As part of this assignment’s exploration of @mainesmidcoast, our local guide Jenna took us to nonprofit Boothbay Region Land Trust’s Oak Point Farm. A stunning property, and former saltwater farm with 2,000 feet of ocean coastline and a freshwater lake, it is also deceptively forward-leaning in the example it and its staff are setting for conservation and environmental advocacy in the MidCoast region and even greater Maine. They’re doing this through solar panels on the roof of the now-restored farmhouse, a geothermal system in the lake, land management that favors a natural order, community education programs and more. As we walked the trails and talked about the importance of these, and other steps, to Maine’s future - I couldn’t help but feel hope and gratefulness. Not to mention sheer awe at how one piece of protected land could have so many gorgeous vistas and corners and spaces in which to feel at peace outdoors. Every few minutes the specific terrain seemed to change in the 32-acres that is the total preserve. For instance, the strip of land that Jenna is walking down in this photo, is sandwiched between the ocean and the lake. Fresh water and the salt of the sea both within reach. The great balance that this planet depends on.
.
The Land Trust manages many public access sites and over 30 miles of trails in the Boothbay region of the MidCoast. I hope that with continued public support they will continue to be able to do so for generations to come. #UnscriptedMaine

The California coast is magical, but my secret favorite part is the Lost Coast. You've got Redwoods right up against the jagged coastline, which is full of whales and seals and very few people. I feel like it's one of the state's best-kept secrets because while many drive along PCH, few make it this far north. That's why my girlfriends and I came here for a getaway - just the three of us - for an adventure in nature. We're all pretty busy women so getting to come to a place as secluded and gorgeous as the Inn at Newport Ranch, which sits on 2000 acres, is such a treat. We saw tons of seals, all curious and eyeing us as we walked along a natural rock bridge out to sea, followed by foraging for mushrooms in the Redwood forest on our ATV adventure with Otis, who then brought us to the organic garden where we picked strawberries. I loved being here with my soul sisters but imagine it's perfect for one's soulmate, too. We even had redwood trees in our room and our own jacuzzi! Hit the link in my bio to read more.

For the first 20 years of my life this 25 mile span of island was my entire playground. Although some people say they feel trapped, it never felt small to me.

This year, as a result of choosing to cut down on my flying by more than 50%, I got to reconnect with that idea that I don’t need to go far to get away. I’ve been spending a lot of my days working and going out for mini adventures rediscovering the same place under different conditions and light. Here are some of my favorites - sunset picnics, glassy morning dives, hikes, ebike rides and Acro lessons.
I’m loving these versatile L*space pants for beach afternoons from @backcountry. I know most of you know their brand as being a haven for technical apparel and fun adventure goodies (it is) but they also have tons of swim and casual clothes too! These ones are super comfortable, great for travel, but still feel a little more elegant :) Use CHELSEA15 for 15% off your first order through @backcountry. *exclusions apply #FindYourBackcountry #Hawaii #Home #sponsored

Free guide to getting business class upgrades
This is something I get asked about ALL THE TIME. The past few years, I switched from being miserable cramped up in coach to stretching out and enjoying all of the comforts of flying premium WITHOUT paying full fares. And it only took me 10 years to learn how. Show me the champagne! @thetravelbootcamp
.
1. Ask and you shall receive but don’t be thirsty
the days are long gone of random upgrades, that almost never happens anymore, but I can tell you just by asking about upgrades is the first start. And be careful how you ask - ask are there any opportunities for upgrades on this flight or are there upgrades available? to show that you're serious. Often there are at drastically reduced prices. I've often paid a couple hundred bucks at the check in counter for a long haul upgrade, and a few times they even just gave it to me for free for asking nicely. Boom
.
2. Dress the part ‍️
Look like a business traveler and act like a business traveler. Often airlines still have a dress code to access lounges, and if you don't look the part, your chance of an upgrade goes out the window
.
3. Build loyalty
From my experience, you have a much better chance of getting upgraded with you already have loyalty with an airline and are working towards status. For example, I'm often bumped up to business class on @emirates on full flights because I have the highest ranking status so I get picked first
.
4. Keep an eye out for last minute upgrade options 🤔
Often I get an email a few days before a flight offering a very cheap offer to upgrade which I often take depending on the trip, and some airlines, like @airnz let you bid on upgrades in advance. Often I've found the cost of an upgrade might even equal out what I would pay in extra baggage, seat select, food, lounges and internet anyways so I might as well get an upgrade and get all of that anyways
.
5. Use your miles 🤑
many of my upgrades come from strategically cashing in my miles I've saved, often from credit cards I use - Worth it!
Do you have any upgrade hacks? Share below! @thetravelbootcamp #travelhack #upgrades #theyravelbootcamp

Chasing unique angles is everything in photography. Although this one isn’t new by paragliding standards I was still pretty stoked on it when @shanedenherder showed me this small tag line & baby parachute he rigged up to hold my camera off his wing. It takes a perfect launch to not get tangled and obviously a time lapse setting to get it right. You hope that you get the tiny parachute vs camera weight just right to create enough lift. I love seeing this unique perspective of me shooting over the Utah desert.

When your passion for self promotion is greater than your passion for photography there is a problem.
And yes I recognize the irony in this statement and try consider every single day in what I share, why I share it and if it brings any positivity into the world. Millions upon millions of tiny droplets of water formed this limestone column. Drip drip drip. All around me is the sound of 15 million year old minerals falling from the cave walls transforming, changing, growing..from something that used to be on the sea floor to a pinnacle reaching for the light. They built something, purely out of their togetherness. What in the world could be more beautiful :)

“What’s the tea?” My sister asked in the back of an Uber in Madrid.

UGH. This basically sums up a good 10 percent of our conversations while traveling, and yes, I’ve never felt my 31 years more than this past June while in Spain with my 18 year old sister on her high school graduation trip. I maybe be all big and famous on Instagram, the reality is that I’m still a dork and STILL out of the loop and have no idea what these youths are saying ‍️ Turns out “tea” is a metaphor for gossip, for all you equally old and dorky folks out there. You’re welcome. This is one of an infinite number of moments where I felt super old on this sister trip to Spain. Man, I used to be cool! Now I love to nap and appreciate quiet My days of dancing til dawn and coconut rum are long behind me *I think* but I loved having this collective experience together, share some of my favorite places in Spain with her, and ideally both instill a deep love for travel and a healthy respect for being prepared. I rarely share photos of myself on my feed because I hate having my picture taken, photos of me rarely turn out and — most of all — because I don’t actually see travel as being about me, but rather about the people I meet and the things I experience which I always try to make the real stars of the story of my travels and of traveling.
.
But then @missjennahoward sent me this photo she took of me in @mainesmidcoast this weekend and I actually like how I look. Which is a huge compliment to Jenna because even my beloved Danté doesn’t always take photos of me that I like. And really that’s why I want to share this, not because it’s a photo of me but because it’s a photo Jenna took, that I like. She’s just one of the many many people we have met during this trip to Maine that prove the USA is so much more than just our politics and our politicians. There are great, gracious, kind, open, welcoming, inclusive, brilliant, creative and endearing people who live and work all over this country every day that are evidence of this still being a country which is great to visit and worthwhile of taking the time to dig in to.
.
And that’s why I said yes to this assignment. Because I want to be part of representing the best this country has to offer. Jenna is one of those bests. So is her region in Maine. And so are the lobster rolls you will get at McLoons Lobster Shack where Jenna took this photo of me. Or at least, that’s what my teammates tell me. I can’t eat lobster unfortunately. But the 🦞 sure did look good and my corn chowder was very very good. Not to mention the island McLoons is on, and the peninsula that it connects to, are so picturesque it’s just ridiculous. When I get home and finally have the time to look through all my photos from this assignment, I’ll share some so you can see and hopefully one of Jenna too.... ️ #UnscriptedMaine

Three weeks ago I was packing up my car after a magical little getaway to the coast when I stepped funny and my foot slid off a wet doormat and went “crack” and I fell to my knees. I got all hot and cold as an excruciating pain took over my right ankle and I crawled inside. Why me why? I then drove 7 hours home as my ankle swelled up twice it’s normal size, while my brain was all like, nah it’s ok, you can totally snowboard this weekend denial and blind optimism are my go-to emotions, guys. I invite you to join a new epic tour in South Greenland! Follow link in bio for details.
I've travelled in many remote areas of Greenland for last 5 years of exploring Land of Ice. But my most favourite region in Greenland is still the South! Why? There are several reasons:
I've encountered the most beautiful northern lights here
Climbers call these places Big Walls because of stunning granite mountains like in Patagonia
These places accessible only by boat - so they are super remote and unique
Most charming villages of the South where locals barely seen any tourists
Icebergs, glaciers, fjords, lakes and waterfalls - everything we like so much in landscape photography!
Next year I am chartering a beautiful schooner for my expeditions to South Greenland. It will be a comfortable moving home for our 10 days in Greenland, where we can charge batteries, have a shower, warm up and have a nice meal from our chef. But not only a home - a beautiful model for our photos against mountains, icebergs and glaciers!

@sukiminthio Truly amazing

@felixinden Sounds like a tease

I’ve been in Maine working on a project for @glpfilms to promote tourism to three distinct regions of Maine, all of which are new to me despite having been to the state many times. So far the most rewarding part of this job has been the people we have met along the way. Portraits of them, as well as stories of their life and work, will eventually be part of videos and stories online. But I wanted to start sharing photos of this trip with one of the prettiest spots we visited in the first region, @mainesmidcoast. This is the Pemaquid Point Light which, according to Wikipedia (so this may or may not be 100% accurate), was commissioned in 1827 by President John Quincy Adams. Because of poor workmanship and a salt water mortar mix, the lighthouse began to crumble and was replaced in 1835. The original light was an Argand-Lewis parabolic reflector, lit with candles and with a visibility of 2 miles (3.2 km) but in 1856, Pemaquid Point received a fourth order Fresnel Lens. Marcus A. Hanna, the only man ever awarded both the Medal of Honor and the Gold Lifesaving Medal, once served as keeper of the light. The station was automated in 1934. By popular vote of Maine residents, the lighthouse was chosen to be featured on the Maine quarter in the 50 State Quarters Program issued by the U.S. Mint. Exposed bedrock descends from the lighthouse to the ocean creating a unique, scenic landscape. These imposing natural structures have made this lighthouse with its recognizable setting one of the most photographed on the Maine coast. In addition to the image found on the state quarter, an image of Pemaquid Point lighthouse is featured as a possible background in Windows 7. Pemaquid Point Light was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1985. Just before I took this, we ate blueberry pancakes next door at The Seagull Shop and they were delicious! #UnscriptedMaine #MaineThing #MainesMidCoast #PemaquidPoint

@rachelroams This is perfection. I would love to travel Maine, so can’t wait to see more from your adventures!

Is anyone else just sick and tired of all the BS and fake behavior on Instagram? I don’t get it. How is it mentally good for anyone to see and consume that stuff OR try and emulate it? No wonder everyone is full of bitterness, stress and anxiety, me included ‍️ I notice the more time I spend exploring on Instagram, the worse it can be for me if I’m not mentally strong “UGH Liz why aren’t your legs longer and why don’t you have a thigh gap and why didn’t you get a better shot at this place?” Oh that’s right, you are short and love burgers and are anxious AF 🤔 remember, comparison is the thief of joy. Stop comparing yourself to people on the internet, we’re all stars and doing our best So next time you’re scrolling through social media and feel those dark thoughts start creeping in, please remember you aren’t alone; we’re all in this together. And I don’t know about you guys, but I’m dying to see more heart on Instagram, I’m CRAVING some damn good stories and authentic pages to follow. Do you guys have any recommendations of creative people who fit the ticket? Who are you really enjoying following on Instagram right now? Tag em and I’ll start resharing @thetravelbootcamp #thetravelbootcamp #moreburgerslessproblems
